Google, a subsidiary of Alphabet Inc., is integrating more generative AI into its products and positioning itself as a one-stop shop for cloud customers looking to
access the technology by integrating artificial intelligence tools from companies like Meta Platforms Inc. and Anthropic into its cloud platform.

The Llama 2 large language model from Meta as well as the Claude 2 chatbot from AI startup Anthropic will be accessible to Google’s cloud clients, which they can
then customize with company data for their own apps and services. The selection, which was made public on Tuesday at Google’s Next ’23 event in San Francisco, is a part of the company’s effort to position its platform as one where customers have the freedom to choose the AI model that best suits their needs, whether from the company itself or one of its partners. Google Cloud customers now have access to more than 100 potent AI models and tools, the company said.

The business also disclosed that its Duet AI product would be made more widely accessible to Workspace customers this year, with public access to follow.
On apps like Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides, users can tap a generative AI assistant that responds to prompts to help with content creation. According to Google,
Duet AI, which was unveiled in May, can translate captions into 18 different languages, send meeting summaries, and take notes during video calls. Users can send the
tool to join meetings on their behalf, deliver messages, and produce an event recap through a new feature called “attend for me.”

Google also announced new collaborations with businesses like GE Appliances and Fox Sports that will enable customers to benefit from AI in ways like creating custom
recipes or watching a replay of a sporting event from Fox’s broadcast library.

In order to overtake its rivals in the artificial intelligence market, Google is indicating with these announcements that it is more eager than ever to collaborate
with other businesses in the field. With a focus on its years of expertise in the field, Google has bragged about its offerings as the best options in AI.
The company claims that the AI additions to its cloud catalog give the platform the widest variety of models to choose from, despite the fact that it still lags
behind Amazon.com Inc. and Microsoft Corp. in the cloud computing market.

In a blog post timed to the announcements, Thomas Kurian, chief executive officer of Google Cloud, declared that “we are in an entirely new era of digital transformation,
powered by gen AI.” “This technology is already enhancing business operations and interpersonal interactions between people.”

Google said it was updating its own AI models and tools in addition to adding new AI models to its cloud catalog. Google’s large language model, PaLM 2,
which the company first unveiled at its annual developers conference in May, is now available in 38 languages and, according to the company, is better able to
analyze longer documents like books, research papers, and legal briefs. The performance of Codey, Google’s AI model that assists with coding, has been improved.
To help cloud customers better align their images to brand guidelines, Imagen, the company’s text-to-image app, will offer higher-quality images and newer capabilities like style tuning, the company said.

In response to growing concerns about how businesses should handle the flood of AI-generated content, Google Cloud unveiled a feature that will embed a watermark to
reveal that images were produced using AI. The watermark will be embedded in the feature at the pixel level, making it difficult to change, according to the company,
which is powered by technology from Google DeepMind’s AI lab.

In its announcements on Tuesday, Google also praised its notable cloud customers and partners. The business claimed that Anthropic, Character.ai, and Cohere are among the generative AI startups that pay for Google’s cloud computing platform. According to the company, its industry-specific models are also becoming increasingly popular.

Google announced collaborations with healthcare providers like Bayer Pharmaceuticals, HCA Healthcare Inc., and Meditech for its AI model called Med-PaLM 2 that is designed for use in hospitals. According to Google, companies like Broadcom Inc. and Tenable use its Sec-PaLM 2 model, which was created for cybersecurity.

A commercial service based on Ampere Computing’s new AmpereOne chip was also announced by the cloud division, supporting the startup’s claim that it can compete with Intel Corp. and Advanced Micro Devices Inc., the two leading suppliers of processors for data centers. With the support of Oracle Corp., Ampere claims that its chips are more power-efficient than competing models and better suited to the high-throughput computing that cloud providers require.
