Borussia Dortmund won 3-2 against Manchester United

season Friendly between Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund won 3-2 against Manchester United in front of 50,857 fans at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on
the second stop of their US Tour. Manchester United scored through Diogo Dalot (25′) and Anthony (52′). Dortmund’s goals
came from Donyell Malen (43′ and 44′) and Youssoufa Moukoko (71′). Despite an impressive turnout, the game, like the one
against the San Diego Loyal, was not completely sold out.

Dortmund’s managing director, Carsten Cramer, recently remarked that the club will need to be more proactive in engaging
the market in the United States. In light of this, the Dortmund excursion, which continues on August 17 in Chicago, is scheduled. with a match versus Chelsea,
must be regarded as a very positive first step.
On the field, Dortmund head coach Edin Terzic is dissatisfied with his team’s performances against San Diego Loyal and
Manchester United, despite his efforts in the post-game press conference zone to downplay difficulties.
“It was a good and very intense game,” Dortmund coach Edin Terzic remarked following the game. “It is very difficult to
stop them if the center is not closed.”
Despite the fact that they didn’t have many clear-cut chances, there were a few things we didn’t like about the game.
We didn’t have enough possession, which allowed them to attack us with a single striker.”
Once again, Dortmund’s defensive problems were on display, with the team struggling with their buildup play and
individual errors that allowed United to score multiple times. Unlike San Diego, though, Man United’s very experimental
side had the ability to convert the Black and Yellows’ chances.
The goal by Manchester United was a prime example, as Diogo Dalot was given far too much time and space to score from
long range following a botched clearance from a United corner.

Man United’s early domination with a relatively inexperienced squad may cause Terzic some concerns with less than two
weeks till Dortmund kicks off the season in the DFB Pokal. The good was that Dortmund was once again highly effective
in attack. Dortmund scored twice in only two attacks after remaining silent for 43 minutes.
“Scoring goals is the last thing I’m worried about,” Julian Brandt stated recently at a media roundtable in San Diego.
Brandt made the statement with the kind of expression that indicated there are some concerns on the opposite end of the
field, and both friendlies in the US have highlighted some obvious backline deficiencies.
On the other hand, Borussia Dortmund, as Brandt has stated, is more than capable of scoring goals. Dortmund, like San Diego, needed only
two planned attacking plays to turn the game around in the first half. Man United promptly equalized after another defensive blunder; Mats Hummels, the defender, failed to clear this time.

Fortunately for Hummels, Dortmund’s ability to simply shift up a gear in attack continued when Moukoko scored off a fantastic Reus assist.
Dortmund won the game thanks to that goal. However, the outcome may be the most encouraging lesson from Dortmund’s second friendly of the US Tour.
“It was a good test, and we are satisfied,” Terzic said. “We want to put everything in perspective with regard to the time difference and weather.”
” Overall, I believe the squad performed admirably tonight against a formidable foe.”

Defensively, which was already an issue last season, appears to be a work in progress. What remains to be seen is if Terzic can address the
problem internally or whether sporting director Sebastian Kehl will need to bring in another player to strengthen Dortmund’s backline in a season in
which the club hopes to finally break Bayern Munich’s stranglehold over the Bundesliga.
